Notes & Trivia
- This is the farthest trip back time made by the Doctor in the new series, excluding novels and references.
- There is another episode of Doctor Who, from the old series, taking place at the same moment (i.e. the day before the eruption). It is quite odd that there is no meeting between any of the involved characters. After all, the Doctor (10th) did meet himself (5th) in a Children In Need special. The Doctor does mention having been to Pompeii before. Perhaps he remembers where he has been and avoids walking in the same places? Or perhaps he does see himself at some point, but tries to blend in with the rest of the people (in spite of his clothes!), and his old self doesn't recognize him.
- The seers know of Gallifrey (the home planet of the Doctor) and use the term 'Lord of Time'.
